Twisted Thursday #9 Challenge - Add Dimension

I had a blast making this card! At first I was going to do something totally different but while making some inchies I came up with my current card....LOVE U 2 PIECES

  • cs - DCWV Spring Cardstock Stack
  • pp - DCWV The Stack 6
  • digital stamp - S2G's On the Road (I cut off the words & just used the worm)
  • font - SBC The 40's from scrapbook.com
  • ribbon - American Crafts Elements
  • pencils - EK Success
  • brown pigment ink - Craft Smart
  • based on Paper Therapy's S2G TT Challenge sketch

So I tried several techniques on this card and let me tell you it took awhile to complete this sucker. Besides the obvious paper layering (one way to add dimension), I tried distressing the white cardstock the message was printed on. I'm pleased with the results considering it was my first actual attempt to try inking the edges. Another technique I tried was blending my colored pencils on the worm. The end result looks okay but I definitely learned a few things. For instance, if you're going to blend with a liquid substance don't use it on regular paper as it makes everything soggy (oops) instead use cardstock. I also used my heating gun to attempt to fix previously mentioned sogginess and almost set the paper on fire (the gun was actually SMOKING!)....so now I know don't hold it too close to what you're heating and don't do it for too long :-P I also got a little more experience with my craft knife as I used it to cut out figures from the pp to use as 3D embellishments....um yeah, curves with the knife not so much.
